Educational Programs Re-Introducing Jews to Judaism, and Judaism to Poland
Beit Polska welcomed 9 Jews by choice on 30 September 2013 (6 men, 3 women)– were converted by the European Union for Progressive Judaism’s Beit Din (panel of three rabbis); then in May 2014 ten more candidates were converted; again, in November 2014 another group of seven men and women completed the process of entering the Jewish people. We believe that there are many other people who seek an affiliation with Judaism or a positive orientation to Jews than is commonly understood. Beit Polska’s Step-by-Step program provides a clear but demanding process that requires a minimum of one year of active participation in the life of a Jewish community and a rigorous course of studies. We are proud to welcome worthy candidates (Gerei Tzedek) who seek to identify as Jews with all their hearts, with all their minds and with all their might.
The Step by Step classes are presented in two formats:
- The ten monthly weekend-long gatherings at Beit Warszawa and available in other cities, as well as the weekly classes.
- A full year course
Both Step-by-Step formats offer over 120 hours of instruction in each as partial fulfillment of conversion requirements. Classes offer instruction in how to read a prayer book in Hebrew. All of the classes are videoed and edited for viewing for those who miss classes and also for a much larger potential audience of 40 million Polish viewers. (How these video segments will reach the larger audience is discussed in the project Publications and Media).
