Please enjoy a remarkable Warsaw concert by David Wisnia and his grandson, Avi Wisnia. The concert took place October 24, 2015 in new concert venue in the Praga district of Warsaw. Many people remarked on the powerful symbolism of David Wisnia’s pride in returning to Poland and telling the narrative of his life which he interspersed throughout the concert. Wisnia’s command of the Polish language after all these years won the hearts of the audience.
This coming October 22, 2016 at the Torrance Civic and Cultural Center in Los Angeles, David Wisnia and his grandson will perform. David Wisnia and his grandson, Avi led a Shabbat evening service at Beit Warszawa Congregation on their first visit.
Later in that same trip David Wisnia is interviewed by Iza Foremniak about his impressions of Progressive Jewish Renewal. The second half of the interview is also important since it gives a unique insight into the impact of Jewish communal life in Poland and its connection to Jewish communities around the world. The second half of the interview is with Iza Foremniak.
The training and connection around music is a key part of Jewish life in Beit Polska’s community. Beit Polska is the umbrella organization of ten communities that grew out of the founding congregation, Beit Warszawa. Iza Foremniak and Avi Wisnia performed one of the Shabbat Psalms together.
